Weather Conditions and DangersThis has to be the hardest single topic in aviation, yet one of the most important for aviators to understand. Often, students just want to learn to fly, and in most cases they do not understand the academics that are necessary to obtain a pilots license, much less the extent to which weather knowledge must be learned for a career in aviation. Even worse, weather is second only to pilot error in the cause of aviation accidents. If you think about it, weather would just be another classification of pilot error accidents. Ultimately, weather does not cause accidents, it is a contributing factor. The pilot either fails to obtain satisfactory weather reports, or decides to depart with less than desirable conditions or continues flight into deteriorating conditions without a safe window for the completion of the flight. Tune in again, as this subject is under development, and bound to grow. |
